Why coaching?

Thriving in nonprofits and social justice organisations can be exciting, motivating and life-affirming. It can also be hard to work in contexts where the needs of the community far exceed the resources the organisation has to address those needs. Stress and burnout are common because the system is flawed.

Moving into positions with new responsibility and authority can be cause for stress and anxiety. Many workplaces are great at equipping first time leaders with formal training as well as comprehensive policy and procedures documents. But you might need something more.

Feeling stressed and afraid you'll burnout? Recently moved into a position with more responsibility or perhaps you are now supervising those who used to be your peers? Feeling you need a change but you're confused about where to go and what to look for? These are some of the situations faced by passionate and dedicated people who work in nonprofit and social justice organisations.

If you're not sure if coaching is what you need, or if you want to know more before you decide how to move forward, book a 45 minute introductory call with me - there is no cost and no commitment. If coaching is not what you need or we feel I'm not the best fit for you, I can offer a referral to another practitioner.

Why Integral Coaching?

Personal change and development lie at the heart of all coaching methods. Integral Coaching is a systematic approach to change, bringing about change and pursuing change that is whole, complete and integrated. An Integral approach can bring about deep, significant change that endures over time, beyond the coaching contract.

What to expect

The coaching process begins with a free exploratory call to figure out whether what I can offer would fit your needs.

If you choose to engage with a coaching program, we will schedule a longer initial session to fully explore the topic you bring forward - one that deeply matters to you.

After that initial session, I will offer you a coaching program that can vary in length but will typically span one-hour sessions every 2 weeks or so over 3-6 months. Longer or shorter coaching programs can be developed if they fit your needs.

This customized coaching program is tailored to meet you where you are at and is co-created together with you. It takes you through carefully curated cycles of development based on deliberately constructed developmental objectives that progressively enable you to make meaningful progress on the specific topic that guides the whole program. Outside of the sessions with me, you will be supported with daily practices that help you build the skills and competencies we have identified together.

What is required of you

  • Actively engage in the program and regular sessions
  • Be willing to stretch yourself and do things out of your "norm"
  • Between sessions, actively engage in 10-15 minute daily exercises/practices which are custom designed for your specific developmental needs.

Sessions can be held in-person (in Toronto) or online. In-person sessions are held at the Centre for Social Innovation (Bathurst/Bloor or Spadina/Queen locations) or other locations by arrangement
